My New Home!

I wish...I 'd move in today.  But, what better way to spend a day off than at Old Sturbridge Village!  Will and I had a BLAST!  Better yet, I got in free being a MA teacher.  Sorry Dave, I know you wish you were there ;) Take a peak at some of my favorite pics. from the day!  Old sleds were built for the kids and adults!  We had a great time zooming down the hill. I really do love this place!

WHAT A FUN DAY!

From the Garden...

A garden shelf complete with dried antique hydrangea from a very, very old bush in our yard.  The flowers were in the shape of a heart as you can see. My husband cut it for me and this has been the perfect spot for it.

Our names are spelled out in Scrabble letters with a piece of sea glass from Martha's Vineyard, where we went on our honeymoon in 2001!  Wow!  That seems like forever ago...

Black and White pics. from our Wedding Day are splashed about with angels.  The photo really does not do this gathering justice and I'm still playing with the display, but I love the shelf!

I am going to frame this sundial that sits in one of our gardens.  I bought this for my husband at Old Sturbridge Village one Spring.  It has a saying on it that his Dad has in his garden, so it has meaning.

What is this flower?  I can't remember the name of it, but it shows up every Spring and I loooove it!  Too bad it does not last all Summer!  I'm going to frame this pic. too!

Today's Blog Is Brought To You By the Letter "S" for SCORE!

As you know my theme in our Master Bedroom is Cottage Garden.  This is my latest decorating re-do...
I found a letter "S" at the clearance section of Homegoods for $7.00! I snatched it up figuring "S" can stand for sleep, snore, snooze, etc... I found that frame for $4.00 at Homegoods!  It holds a picture of me when I was 1 and a 1/2 with my Poppa (xo).  The antique garden rake I found for $10.00 about 6 years ago.  It has been in my cellar doing nothing, but collecting dust.  The lavender bunch with twigs was purchased 3 years ago and is made so well! I made the candle, of course.  I love this grouping of items.  Stay tuned working on another grouping... Feel free to share :)

Secret Spot-Shhhhhhh!

Okay, so here is our secret spot that no one knows about.  Well, of course of all of you do now. But, I'm sharing it because it is totally blissful!  If you're ever in York Harbor Park in York, Maine hook a left and keep walking down the dirt path, under the brush, and you will come out to what you see here!  Ahhhhh, summer! But, danger there is a hike at your own risk sign!

Frozen Fish-Starfish and Decorating

10 things you can do with Starfish...
1. Put them on a twig wreath
2. Display them in your windows
3. Lay them on top of a display of books with some beach stones
4. Display them in wicker baskets
5. Use them as a bottle stopper in vintage glass bottles, even some that hold sea glass...

6. Add some twine, vintage ribbon, and glue them in a row then attach to your wall, or door

7. Add them to a painted canvas with a saying like, Twinkle, Twinkle, Little (attach starfish here)
8. Make a starfish tree, or use a starfish as a tree topper
9.  Use them as tie backs for curtains
10. I'm out of ideas so please share!

Keeping One Eye Open!

Literally!  Well, after a loooong day of Dr. visits for my son & I the patients are home and resting.  Pink Eye has flown through my home faster than.....I don't know what?  But, let me say I was making fun of my husband for looking like Popeye on New Year's Eve and here I am now looking like Popeye with my darling son who is looking like a bit red in the eyes.  It's pretty bad when you are at the Dr.'s and she takes a look at you for the first time in 6 months and says, "That's a really bad case of it." Oooooooh, yes it is.  No, I will not take a pic. of my eye.  That would be just gross!  I'm off for me spinach.  ;) Eye-Yi-Yi

My Church Door

When I first walked up to my church door, I noticed something that I loved about the door.  Do you see it near the handle?  This church dates back to the 1800's and is noted to probably have the last bell created by Paul Revere and his brother in the tower.  It is so beautiful outside and inside.

Happy New Year and New Year Ideas!

What a great New Year's Eve we had with friends :)
The picture that I'm trying to show is the entrance to our Master Bedroom.  The walls are a light purple and all of the trim is white.  The cottage doors , which you can't see, oops :, we special ordered from Home Depot and we looooove them.  The letters I got from Anthropology.  I have dried lavender hanging from mine, but I have no idea what to hang from Dave's.  Any ideas?  The photo above is about 10 years old and I still love it! I am continuing to carry this theme throughout the bedroom.  I have a cottage garden theme going and I will post my decorating ideas as I continue to work on it.  My goal this year is to acquire things from tag sales and to keep things organized and to a minimum. Wish me luck with this.  Also, share your decorating ideas with me!! I'm always looking for new things to do!
